As a runner I believe recovery is just as important as training hard. Without the correct balance between the two it could end up in injury, loss of motivation and under-fuelling.

With regards, injury prevention, I am almost a slave to a foam roller! I make sure that after every run (easy, hard or anything in between) I use the foam roller, massage ball/golf ball or good old-fashioned stretching. I make sure I focus on my own problem areas first (for me, that is hip flexors and hamstrings) and then work my way everywhere else.

There is also nothing better than a nice hot bath with some Epsom salts to help ease muscle aches! Working full-time does have its limitations though when it comes to recovery. It means I can’t have a mid-afternoon nap, lie-in until lunchtime or spend as long as I would like stretching/rolling. That’s where oofos come in. I wear my OOFOS at work, going to the shop and even around the house to help take the pressure off my feet and legs whenever I can. It certainly helps that they look good too!
